He first gained prominence in the late 1990s as one half of the production duo The Neptunes with Chad Hugo, crafting hits for artists including Britney Spears, Jay-Z, and Justin Timberlake. Williams later formed the band N.E.R.D. and launched a solo career highlighted by the global smash “Happy” from the Despicable Me 2 soundtrack. His work spans hip-hop, pop, funk, and electronic music, often characterized by bright synths and upbeat grooves.
