Pharrell Williams is an American singer, rapper, songwriter, and record producer from Virginia Beach. He first gained prominence in the late 1990s as one half of the production duo The Neptunes with Chad Hugo, crafting hits for artists including Britney Spears, Jay-Z, and Justin Timberlake. Williams later formed the band N.E.R.D. and launched a solo career highlighted by the global smash “Happy” from the Despicable Me 2 soundtrack. His work spans hip-hop, pop, funk, and electronic music, often characterized by bright synths and upbeat grooves. He has collaborated with Daft Punk on “Get Lucky,” produced Beyoncé’s “Partition,” and founded the Billionaire Boys Club fashion line. Williams has won multiple Grammy Awards and continues to produce for major artists while releasing his own projects.
