Jay Rock is an American rapper from Watts, Los Angeles. He rose to prominence in the late 2000s as part of the Top Dawg Entertainment collective alongside Kendrick Lamar and Schoolboy Q. His debut album Follow Me Home arrived in 2011, followed by 90059 in 2015 and Redemption in 2018, the latter earning a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Album. Known for his gritty storytelling and West Coast gangsta rap style, he has collaborated extensively with Kendrick Lamar, including the hit single “King’s Dead.”
