Reynaldo Hahn (1874–1947) was a Venezuelan-born French composer, conductor, music critic, and singer. He is best remembered for his mélodies, particularly settings of poems by Verlaine, and for his operas and chamber music that blend late-Romantic lyricism with French elegance. Trained at the Paris Conservatoire, Hahn became a prominent figure in Parisian musical life, conducting at the Opéra and befriending Marcel Proust. His works range from intimate songs such as “À Chloris” to larger dramatic scores, and he also left a legacy of writings on music.
