Donell Jones is an American R&B singer, songwriter, and producer born in Chicago on May 22, 1973. He first gained attention in the mid-1990s after signing with LaFace Records and releasing his debut album My Heart in 1996. Jones achieved mainstream success with his 1999 album Where I Wanna Be, which featured the hit singles "U Know What's Up" and the title track. His smooth vocal style and introspective songwriting helped define the neo-soul and quiet storm genres throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s.
