Bio

Digital Underground was an American hip hop group formed in Oakland, California in 1987. The collective became known for its eclectic, funk-infused sound and humorous, party-oriented lyrics, drawing heavily from the P-Funk tradition. Their 1990 single "The Humpty Dance" became a crossover hit, and the accompanying album Sex Packets established them as a distinctive voice in West Coast rap. Led by Shock G, the group featured a rotating cast of members including Money-B and featured early appearances by Tupac Shakur. Digital Underground released several albums through the 1990s before effectively disbanding around 2008, leaving a legacy of influential and irreverent hip hop.
