Bio
Heinrich Ignaz Franz von Biber (1644–1704) was a Bohemian-Austrian composer and violinist of the Baroque era, widely regarded as one of the most important violin virtuosos of the seventeenth century. Born in Česká Lípa, he spent much of his career at the court of the Prince-Archbishop of Salzburg, where he served as Kapellmeister from 1684 until his death. Biber is celebrated for his innovative use of scordatura tuning and for his mastery of the violin, which he showcased in numerous sonatas and ensemble works.
