James Judd

Bio

James Judd (born 30 October 1949) is a British conductor known for his work with orchestras across Europe, North America, and Asia. He studied at the Royal Academy of Music and began his career as an assistant conductor with the London Philharmonic Orchestra before taking up music directorships with the Florida Philharmonic Orchestra and the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. Throughout his career, Judd has been noted for his interpretations of the Romantic repertoire and for championing contemporary British composers. He has appeared as a guest conductor with many leading orchestras, including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Philharmonia Orchestra, and the BBC Symphony Orchestra, and has recorded extensively for labels such as Naxos and Chandos.
