Bio
O. P. Nayyar was an Indian film-music composer and director who worked primarily in Bollywood from the 1950s through the 1970s. Born in Lahore in 1926, he became known for his distinctive rhythmic style that blended Western swing and Latin influences with Indian film song forms. His scores for films such as Naya Daur (1957), Howrah Bridge (1958), and Kashmir Ki Kali (1964) helped define the upbeat, dance-oriented sound of that era. Nayyar died in Mumbai in 2007.
