Kirk Whalum is an American saxophonist and songwriter born in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1958. He is known for blending jazz, smooth jazz, and Christian music, releasing numerous solo albums and collaborating with artists such as Luther Vandross and Quincy Jones. Whalum has performed on film soundtracks and contributed to both instrumental and vocal jazz projects throughout his career. His work often reflects his Memphis roots and faith-based influences.
