Bio
Émile Waldteufel (1837–1915) was a French composer and pianist renowned for his elegant waltzes and other dance music. Born in Strasbourg, he studied at the Paris Conservatoire and later served as court pianist to Napoleon III. His best-known works, such as "Les Patineurs" and "Estudiantina," became staples of the ballroom repertoire across Europe. Waldteufel’s music is characterized by graceful melodies and refined orchestration, reflecting the light-hearted spirit of the Second Empire. Though his output was largely confined to dance forms, his compositions remain widely performed and recorded today.
