Furacão 2000 is a Brazilian collective and sound system based in Rio de Janeiro, widely recognized as one of the foundational forces behind funk carioca. Emerging in the late 1980s, it popularized a raw, dance-oriented style that fused Miami bass, local rhythms, and electronic beats, shaping the sound of Rio’s favelas.
