Vangelis was a Greek composer and keyboardist best known for his electronic and orchestral film scores. He gained international recognition for his work on the soundtrack to the 1981 film Chariots of Fire, which earned him an Academy Award for Best Original Score. His music often blended synthesizers with classical influences, creating atmospheric and cinematic soundscapes that defined the new age genre.
