Bio
Rita Lee (1947–2023) was a Brazilian singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist widely regarded as the "Queen of Brazilian Rock." Born in São Paulo, she first rose to prominence in the late 1960s as a founding member of the psychedelic rock band Os Mutantes, helping shape the Tropicália movement alongside artists such as Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil. After leaving the group in 1972, she launched a prolific solo career that blended rock, MPB, and pop, scoring numerous hits with songs like "Lança Perfume," "Mania de Você," and "Chega Mais." Over five decades she released more than 20 studio albums, became one of Brazil’s best-selling female artists, and remained an influential figure in Brazilian music until her death in 2023.
