Bio

Collegium Vocale Gent is a Belgian vocal ensemble founded in 1970 by conductor Philippe Herreweghe. Based in Ghent, the group specializes in historically informed performances of Renaissance, Baroque, and Classical repertoire, often collaborating with period-instrument orchestras. The ensemble is renowned for its clear, transparent sound and meticulous attention to textual and musical detail. It has recorded extensively for labels such as Harmonia Mundi and Virgin Classics, contributing landmark interpretations of works by Bach, Monteverdi, and other major composers of the 16th–18th centuries.
