Bio

The Munich Radio Orchestra (Münchner Rundfunkorchester) is a German symphony orchestra founded in 1952 and based in Munich, Bavaria. It is the resident orchestra of BR-Klassik, the classical-music division of Bavarian Broadcasting, and performs a wide repertoire that ranges from the Baroque to contemporary works, with a particular emphasis on opera and orchestral music. The ensemble appears regularly in the concert halls of Munich and throughout Bavaria, and has collaborated with many internationally renowned conductors and soloists. Its recordings, issued on major classical labels, document both standard repertoire and lesser-known works, contributing to the preservation and dissemination of classical music in Germany and abroad.
