Bio
Isobel Campbell is a Scottish singer-songwriter and cellist born in Glasgow in 1976. She first gained recognition as a founding member of the indie band Belle and Sebastian, contributing cello, vocals, and songwriting before leaving the group in 2002. After her departure, Campbell embarked on a solo career marked by intimate, atmospheric recordings that blend folk, chamber pop, and southern gothic influences. She is particularly noted for her acclaimed collaborative albums with former Screaming Trees frontman Mark Lanegan, including the Mercury Prize-nominated Ballad of the Broken Seas (2006).
