Bio
Ron Goodwin (1925–2003) was an English composer, conductor and arranger best known for his film scores and light orchestral music. Born in Plymouth, he studied at the Royal Academy of Music and began his career arranging for big bands before moving into film music in the 1950s. Goodwin scored over 60 films, including the original 1960s Miss Marple series, 633 Squadron, Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines and Force 10 from Navarone. His signature style blended sweeping melodies with rich orchestral colours, and several of his concert works—such as the suites Drake 400 and New Zealand Suite—remain popular in the light-music repertoire.
