Bio
MC Ren (born Lorenzo Jerald Patterson, June 16, 1969) is an American rapper and songwriter from Compton, California. He first gained prominence as a member of the pioneering gangsta-rap group N.W.A, contributing to their landmark albums Straight Outta Compton and Niggaz4Life. After N.W.A disbanded, Ren launched a solo career with the 1992 EP Kizz My Black Azz and the 1993 album Shock of the Hour, both of which achieved platinum status. His work is characterized by hard-edged lyricism and West Coast production, and he has remained an influential figure in gangster rap and g-funk.
