Remo Giazotto

Bio

Remo Giazotto (1910–1998) was an Italian musicologist, composer, and biographer whose scholarly work focused on Baroque music. Born in Rome, he studied at the University of Florence and later became a professor of music history at the University of Rome. Giazotto is best known for his 1958 biography of Tomaso Albinoni and for his editorial work on 18th-century Italian composers. His own compositions are few; the most famous is the single-movement Adagio in G minor, long attributed to Albinoni but now recognized as Giazotto’s own creation based on a fragment by the earlier composer.
