Bio
Quartetto Italiano was an Italian string quartet founded in 1945 and active until 1980. The ensemble became one of the most respected chamber groups of the post-war era, known for its refined tone and meticulous attention to detail in the classical and romantic repertoire. The quartet performed extensively throughout Europe and North America, collaborating with leading soloists and recording landmark cycles of the Beethoven, Schubert, and Brahms quartets. Their discography, spanning more than three decades, remains a benchmark for interpretive clarity and ensemble precision in 20th-century chamber-music performance.
