Bio

Claude-Michel Schönberg is a French composer, record producer, and actor best known for his musical theatre works. Born in Vannes, France in 1944, he first gained international recognition as the co-creator of the musical "Les Misérables" with lyricist Alain Boublil. The show premiered in Paris in 1980 and later became one of the longest-running musicals in West End and Broadway history. Schönberg also composed the music for "Miss Saigon," another global success that opened in London in 1989. His work is characterized by sweeping orchestral scores and emotionally charged melodies that have become staples of the modern musical theatre repertoire. In addition to composing, he has produced recordings and occasionally appeared in productions of his own works.
