Bio
Gioachino Rossini (1792–1868) was an Italian composer whose operas dominated the early nineteenth-century stage. Born in Pesaro, he achieved international fame with works such as The Barber of Seville and William Tell, blending melodic brilliance with dramatic pacing that influenced generations of composers. After retiring from opera composition in his late thirties, Rossini lived mainly in Paris and Bologna, producing only sacred and instrumental music. His final years were marked by celebrated salons and a renewed interest in composition, including the Petite messe solennelle.
