Bio
Gilberto Gil is a Brazilian singer-songwriter and guitarist who helped shape the Tropicália movement in the late 1960s. Blending traditional Brazilian styles such as samba, bossa nova, and forró with rock and psychedelic influences, he became one of the leading voices of MPB (Música Popular Brasileira). Gil has released dozens of albums over six decades, served as Brazil’s Minister of Culture from 2003 to 2008, and remains an influential figure in both music and cultural policy.
