Bio

Masaaki Suzuki is a Japanese organist, harpsichordist, conductor, and founder of the Bach Collegium Japan. Born in Kobe in 1954, he studied at the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music and later at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam. Suzuki is internationally recognized for his extensive recordings of Johann Sebastian Bach’s vocal works, including the complete church cantatas, which have been widely praised for their scholarly rigor and expressive clarity. He also serves as principal guest conductor of the Yale Schola Cantorum and has taught at institutions in Japan and the United States.
