Bio

Aldo Ciccolini (1925–2015) was an Italian pianist renowned for his refined interpretations of French impressionist repertoire, particularly the works of Erik Satie, Claude Debussy, and Maurice Ravel. Born in Naples, he trained at the Conservatorio di San Pietro a Majella before moving to France, where he became a leading exponent of the French piano school. Ciccolini recorded extensively for EMI and other labels, producing authoritative cycles of Satie’s piano music and complete surveys of Saint-Saëns’s piano concertos. His playing was noted for its clarity, tonal beauty, and poetic restraint, qualities that earned him a devoted following among both critics and audiences throughout Europe and North America.
