Bio
The Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment is a British period-instrument ensemble founded in 1986. It performs Baroque, Classical and early-Romantic repertoire on historically informed instruments and has become one of the United Kingdom’s leading orchestras of its kind. The orchestra is self-governing: its musicians collectively choose repertoire, soloists and conductors, and the ensemble appears regularly at London’s Southbank Centre and in major concert halls worldwide. Its collaborations extend to opera houses and choirs, and it maintains an active education programme.
