Umphrey's McGee is an American jam band formed in South Bend, Indiana, in 1997. The group blends rock, jazz, funk, and progressive elements into extended improvisational sets, and is also noted for its "newgrass" leanings that incorporate bluegrass instrumentation and song structures. Since their debut, the sextet has built a devoted following through relentless touring, intricate compositions, and nightly musical exploration.
