Musica Antiqua Köln was a German early-music ensemble founded in Cologne in 1973 by harpsichordist Reinhard Goebel. The group specialized in historically informed performances of Baroque and Renaissance repertoire, often using period instruments and scholarly editions. Over three decades the ensemble recorded extensively for Archiv Produktion, earning acclaim for its rigorous approach and lively interpretations of composers such as Bach, Telemann, and Rameau. Musica Antiqua Köln disbanded in 2007 after Goebel decided to pursue solo and conducting projects.
