Bio
Monica Huggett is an English violinist and conductor renowned for her performances on period instruments. Born in London in 1953, she studied at the Royal Academy of Music and quickly established herself as a leading figure in the historically informed performance movement. Huggett has performed and recorded extensively with ensembles such as the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, and she is noted for her interpretations of Baroque repertoire including works by Bach, Vivaldi, and Handel. In addition to her solo career, she has served as artistic director of several early-music festivals and ensembles, and she teaches at institutions including the Juilliard School.
