Ayra Starr is a Nigerian singer and songwriter born in Cotonou, Benin, and raised in Lagos. She began her career as a model before transitioning to music, releasing her debut single "Away" in 2021. Her breakthrough came with the 2022 single "Rush", which topped charts across Africa and earned her international recognition. She blends afrobeats with R&B, pop, and dance elements, often exploring themes of love, empowerment, and self-expression. Her debut album 19 & Dangerous (2021) and follow-up The Year I Turned 21 (2024) established her as one of Nigeria’s leading new voices. She has collaborated with artists including Wizkid, Omah Lay, and Kelly Rowland, and signed with Mavin Records.
